Arabia Mountain Session – Destiny
Goodmorning, babes! Have you done a session where you’ve never been to the location so you show up and don’t know where to go to actually get to the spot that you’re looking for? Well this session at Arabia Mountain was one of those BUT I thankfully got a client who was go-with-the-flow and down for anything!
Destiny won my 1K Giveaway (still can’t believe I have over 1,000 followers, yall…LIKE WHAT!?), and I wanted this session to be different and one that fit my branding that I was launching that next week. I rented a dress from Raw + Golden and bought a beautiful bouquet from one of my favorite flower vendors Bear Flowers Preserved. I love to include vendors that I indorse so I can show off their amazing business and work!
It’s the day of the shoot and I try to get to my locations early so I can test lighting and just know my surroundings. Well, what I didn’t know is at Arabia Mountain there is 2 parking lots. One parking lot is where you can park and walk straight up to the top. The second parking lot is a little before that parking lot where you can walk to the second parking lot and then walk up the mountain. Y’all…………………..Destiny and I parked at the second parking lot. I was mortified and felt so terrible that I had my client walk all the way down this road just to get to the bottom of the mountain to walk up to the top. Thankfully, Destiny understood and was just thankful she was chosen for the shoot. When we got to the parking lot I told her that we definitely can just stop here and take the pictures because it is pretty and we won’t have to walk anymore. I was dripping sweat and knew I probably couldn’t go any further so I definitely wasn’t going to make her walk anymore.
We got her all changed and ready to start our session. She looked BOMB in that auburn dress with her auburn hair and the bouquet just made everything look so put together! I was honestly fine with staying at the bottom because we didn’t have to worry about people in the background or being in the way of someone’s morning walk. Once we got done with her session the sun was starting to beat down on us so I’m glad we finished up when we did.
The lesson I learned was a couple of things..
- Scout out your location before you do your session. I do this when I’m in Macon/middle Georgia, but since it was outside of Atlanta I didn’t get a chance to scout out the location until that morning. From now on if I choose a location outside of middle Georgia I will scout it out before hand to make sure everything goes smoothly.
- WATER…I use my Hydrojug when it comes to staying hydrated, but I don’t have a strap for it yet. I thought I’d be okay since I thought it wasn’t a long walk and it was an early morning session. But, after the confusion that morning you never know what’s going to happen so BRING YOUR WATER!
